Boston College Office of University Advancement Privacy Statement

The Boston College Office of University Advancement (BCUA) is committed to safeguarding personal data. This Statement describes how the BCUA website (bc.edu/alumni) and other BCUA-managed websites (collectively, the “Sites”) may collect and use personal information about visitors to the Sites (collectively, the “Visitors”).

Personal information collected from Visitors is used by Boston College to ensure the functionality of the Sites, in furtherance of its educational and charitable activities, and/or to engage with Visitors about Boston College.

Personal information may be collected from a Visitor when the Visitor uses a Site to provide information, such as when submitting a form or requesting information from BCUA. Information about a Visitor may also be provided automatically, such as when the Visitor’s web browser provides the Visitor’s IP address, geolocation data, unique device identifiers, pages visited, length of visit and terms searched.

Boston College, or the vendors it uses to manage the sites, may also use cookies and other tools, including but not limited to Google Analytics, to enhance its Sites, including to evaluate usage patterns, establish continuity between requests, personalize a site to a Visitor’s preferences, authenticate a Visitor’s log-in, to analyze web traffic, monitor and ensure the security of the network, and to help diagnose and correct service issues with the Site. Visitors may adjust the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on their browsers. However, if the cookie settings are adjusted, a Visitor may not be able to use the full functionality of a Site.

Personal information collected, maintained and used by BCUA shall comply with applicable laws and regulations. Boston College, at its sole discretion, may change this Privacy Statement from time to time. For more information, please contact the Alumni Relations office at uacomunications@bc.edu.
