Ruth Langer

Dr. Ruth Langer is Professor of Jewish Studies in the Theology Department at Boston College, Associate Director of its Center for Christian-Jewish Learning, and chair of the Council of Centers on Jewish-Christian Relations. Langer, who is spending the 2016-2017 researching in Israel, writes and speaks in two major areas: the development of Jewish liturgy and ritual; and Christian-Jewish relations. Widely published in academic journals, Dr. Langer is also the author of three books: Jewish Liturgy: A Guide to Research(Rowman and Littlefield); Cursing the Christians? A History of the Birkat HaMinn (Oxford University); and To Worship God Properly: Tension Between Liturgical Custom and Halakhah in Judaism (Hebrew Union College Press)
