Justine Romano

Profile

Justine holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Boston College and completed her studies while interning at Boston Medical Center (BMC). Justine went on to work at BMC in various departments including inpatient trauma and general surgery as well as an outpatient social worker for those diagnosed with cancer where Justine was also facilitating many peer support groups for adults. Justine was part of the Child Protection Team at BMC during her transition to working for Massachusetts General Hospital where she is currently the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Social Worker. Justine has been recognized as a Clinical Scholar at MGH and has extensive experience working with adults, children, adolescents and families in crisis and coping with various stressors as well as interest and skill in facilitating groups. Justine currently facilitates a weekly support group for survivors of domestic violence through the Melrose Alliance Against Violence (MAAV).

Justine currently teaches Psychosocial Dimensions of Health and Medical Care Practice, for final year Graduate School of Social Work students in the Health concentration.

2017 MGH Palliative Care Champion after completing Harvard University’s Palliative Care Education and Practice program and taking part in the palliative care improvement project hospital wide.   

2016 Graduate of the Partners' Clinical Process Improvement Leadership Program (CPIP).

Recognized as an Advanced Clinician by the MGH Clinical Recognition board in 2015.

Recognized by the House of Representatives for work completed at Boston Medical Center with Project ASSERT for 2013 and 2014.

2013 Social Worker of the Year at Boston Medical Center.
