Conference Travel & Professional Development

All doctoral students are eligible to be reimbursed up to $1,000 annually for expenses related to conference travel when presenting a paper or poster. With prior approval, these funds may also be used to attend specialized trainings. To further assist with professional development, the school provides business cards for all doctoral candidates.

Offered throughout the academic year, alumni career panels allow for a greater understanding of the variety of MSW career options and an opportunity to develop your career network.

Recruitment Fair

This annual event brings 45+ hiring employers to campus. It is open to BCSSW students and alumni, master’s students in counseling, and undergrads interested in social service positions.


Sponsored by the BCSSW Alumni Association, this annual event connects students and alums in a casual meet-and-greet format. It provides career exploration conversations and networking opportunities.

Mock Interviews

BCSSW students are given the opportunity to practice their interviewing skills with alumni volunteers in 45-minute virtual mock interviews to help as they prepare for their job search.

Kick-off event for the final semester for MSWs; hear from recent grads about their transition and get an overview of the job search process and the resources available to support you.

Mock interviews, recruitment fairs, workshops—Cindy Snell facilitates the lifecycle of career development. As Director of Career Services and Alumni Relations, she oversees a range of career offerings for both MSW graduate students and alumni.
