Tuition, Stipend and Health Care

Tuition and Stipend

The Graduate School of the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences Biology Department covers tuition and Health Care for all active Ph.D. students up to six years in exchange for service to the department. Ph.D students are responsible to pay the Graduate Student Activity Fee.

Ph.D. students receive an annual service stipend as compensation for 20 hours of departmental service each week as a Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant.

Insurance/Health Care

All BC students must have health insurance. For students who don't carry a policy of their own, Boston College is required by law to provide access to a health insurance policy. All Ph.D enrolled in a course are eligible for free Health Insurance funded by the University. There is also a University Health Services website.
