Profile

Marilyn Cochran-Smith is the Cawthorne Professor of Teacher Education at the Lynch School of Education and Human Development. She has written 10 books, seven of which have won national awards, and more than 200 articles, chapters, and editorials. She is a widely known national and International speaker, recently giving presentations for the University of Hong Kong, the Norwegian University of Technology and Science, KU Leuven in Belgium, and Danish School of Education at Aarhus University. She was the director of the PhD program in Curriculum & Instruction for 22 years and continues to serve on the doctoral advisory committee.

Cochran-Smith is an elected member of the National Academy of Education; she recently finished a term on its Board of Directors. In addition, she is a former president of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), an AERA Fellow, and a Laureate member of the Kappa Delta Pi education honor society.
