Preclinical non-human primate modeling of vaccines and immunotherapeutics for cancer, and infectious diseases
Dr. Whitney is an internationally recognized virologist and leader in the development of therapeutics for viral infectious diseases. He earned his Ph.D. at McGill University under the mentorship of Dr. Mark Wainberg and completed his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of Dr. Norman Letvin. He was appointed to the faculty at Harvard Medical School in 2011 and since that time has continuously maintained a NIH funded research laboratory. His work has been regularly published in leading scientific journals, including Nature, Nature Medicine, Science Translational Medicine, and Science. Recognized for his expertise in translational research using non-human primate models, Dr. Whitney has played an active role in the biotechnology industry, serving in several executive consulting CxO positions. As a globally recognized KOL in therapeutic development, he serves as a consultant, advisor, and advisory board member to numerous biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. His translational research has contributed to the advancement of five therapeutic candidates into human clinical trials across multiple disease indications (to date). In 2021, Dr. Whitney relocated his laboratory to Boston College, where he is a faculty member in the Morrissey School of Arts and Sciences.
