Giving to Biology

Giving to the Biology Department actively sustains our mission of teaching and mentoring students while conducting and disseminating leading-edge research by students and faculty. In addition, your donations impact our faculty’s research within the areas of cell and developmental biology, microbiology and infectious disease, and computational biology.

The department's curriculum ranges from small in-depth seminars to rigorous advanced labs to honors program courses, many taught by faculty members participating in current research and recognized for their contributions in advancing science scholarship. Currently, over 30 graduate students serve as teaching and research assistants and mentor undergraduate students alongside faculty.

Advanced lab courses, research labs, and guided research projects are an integral part of the academic pursuit and prepare students with the skills to obtain exciting job opportunities in labs around the country. Undergraduate and graduate Biology students learn beyond the classroom by participating in authentic lab research experiences in a collaborative learning environment with direct access to research faculty.

Your gift could provide opportunities to a vast majority of our Biology majors who might otherwise not have the opportunity to work in a laboratory setting or gain further enrichment by traveling to conferences to present their research findings.

Should you want to discuss making a special gift to the department, please be in touch with the Director of Development, Schools and Programs, Sally Murray, by email at sally.murray@bc.edu or by phone at 617-552-8517.
