Boston College is committed to providing robust teaching support for all its instructors, a responsibility that is shared across multiple offices and units on campus. Read below about the units that partner with the CTE to support teaching at BC. Plus, see the New Faculty FAQ for further information.

Boston College Libraries
BC Libraries provide a range of services and supports meant to further student learning and pedagogical innovation:
- BC Digital Scholarship (BCDS) oversees a digital studio and supports instructors in designing opportunities for students to explore new digital modalities of research, analysis, and publication.
- Subject Specialists can assist with identifying course resources and integrating library content into Canvas.
- Course Reserves details the process for requesting physical and digital course content and making it available to students. For particular questions about copyright and fair use, see Copyright Guidance for E-Reserves.
Center for Digital Innovation in Learning (CDIL)
The Center for Digital Innovation in Learning partners with faculty to design thoughtful, technology-enhanced learning experiences. Responsible for online and hybrid course development, CDIL also supports faculty experimentation with cutting edge instructional technologies. In addition, CDIL’s Canvas Administrators assist with technical questions about Canvas and Panopto and provide support for Lockdown Browser.
Instructional Technology Services (ITS)
Instructional Technology Services ensure that BC has the technology infrastructure needed to live out its educational mission. ITS units of particular interest to instructors:
- BC LMS Support helps students with Canvas, Zoom, and Panopto questions.
- ITS Technology Consultants provides dedicated support to departments with basic Zoom questions and support, technical issues with your computer, and recommendations for personal technology purchases.
- ITS Classroom Services (Media Technology Services) can address classroom concerns (loans of microphones, using the projection system, etc.).
- ITS Help Desk helps with basic tech troubleshooting and campus internet access (Eduroam) questions.
Office of Student Services
The Office of Student Services provides a number of resources for faculty, including an overview of final exam and grading policies. See their (password-protected) Faculty and Staff Resources page for more information. They also manage the opt-in mid-semester feedback survey and end of semester course evaluations.
Office of the Vice President for Human Resources
The Office of the Vice President for Human Resources is charged with cultivating a welcoming and respectful campus culture at BC and coordinates disability accommodations for employees. Faculty in need of instructional accommodations can contact accommodation@bc.edu.
