Weekly Yoga Classes
Weekly classes from August 26 - December 18, 2019. Some exceptions due to holidays and travel. You will receive a calendar invitation to the entire series (e.g. all Monday classes at Cafe 129 from 5:15-6 PM) upon registration. Participants are not required to attend every class; however, pre-registration is required since space is limited. 

Breath and movement are united for a gentle flow class. Designed for new and experienced practitioners alike, the pace is slower with the intention on the breath and alignment. The class builds strength, increases flexibility, centers the mind, and opens the heart. Basic instruction is provided and participants are encouraged to ask questions and work toward a personal practice. Please wear comfortable clothes that allow for gentle movement and flow. Weekly Pilates Classes

Weekly classes from August 26 - December 5, 2019. Some exceptions due to holidays and travel. You will receive a calendar invitation to the entire series (e.g. all Monday classes at Carney Hall 1 -1:30 PM) upon registration. Participants are not required to attend every class; however, pre-registration is required since space is limited. 

Low-impact exercise to strengthen muscles and improve postural alignment and flexibility. A full-body workout with movements that target the core. Designed for new and experienced practitioners. Please wear comfortable clothes that allow for ease in movement and flow. Mats and blocks are provided. Walk/Run Group

Interested in moving more during your day and want to join a fun group of individuals for a monthly walk/run around the Chestnut Hill Reservoir? We will meet at different times each month so sign up for the listserve to stay up to date, email Ling Beisecker at beisecke@bc.edu to sign up!


Fall Road Race: 18th Annual Paddy’s Road Race

Join Team BC for our fall road race on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at 11:30 AM. The 3-mile race will start at 95 Elm St, W. Newton, 02465. The pre and post-race BlocktoberFest includes over 40 vendors and features great food, an outdoor beer garden, Irish music, Irish Step Dances, raffle prizes, silent auction, and awards. Yoga + Wellness Programs

The Roll Model Method: Roll-ief for Desk Warriors | Monday, September 9, 1 - 2 PM | Location: Carney 206
Almost everything we do in our daily work life happens in front of us and often involves a mouse, keyboard, phone or a car. In this session, we will use Roll Model® therapy balls and stretching techniques to address issues in your hands, wrist, forearm, shoulder and neck... and even the lower back. Learn myofascial release techniques for self-care on and off the job!

  • De-stress your tissues
  • Prevent injury from overuse
  • Commit to a healthier you

The Roll Model Method (RMM) is a self-care format that uses the various Roll Model therapy balls for myofascial massage. Yoga Tune Up Balls will be provided. This program is limited to the first 20 registrations, so please only register if you are confident you can make the class.

Introduction to Meditation | Wednesday, September 25, 12 - 1 PM | Location: Carney 206
Rich Ray has been a student of meditation for over 20 years. He has a practical, down to earth, back to basics approach that is accessible to all. He takes great pride in teaching an age-old practice and looks forward to sharing his skills with the BC community. He will apply the time-honored practice of meditation in a beginner workshop that is part group discussion, processing, lecture, and practice. This workshop aims to provide direct experience of meditation and its effects. Please wear comfortable clothes for easy breathing and sitting on the floor. Mats and blocks will be provided.

Eating Well - Fall Session
| Monday, September 30, 12:30 - 1:30 PM | Location:  Theology and Ministry Library, 117 Lake Street, Room 112, Brighton Campus
You are invited to the seasonal hour-long sessions to discuss healthy eating for the upcoming season. Kate O’Donnell is a nationally certified Ayurvedic practitioner and Ayurvedic yoga specialist. She is on the faculty for the Kripalu School of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic Health Education Trainings. She is the author of two (soon-to-be three) Ayurvedic Cookbooks. Light refreshments and food will be provided.

The Roll Model Method: SOS - Save Our Shoulders
| Monday, October 7, 1 - 2 PM | Location: Carney 206
This session will introduce participants to basic yoga philosophy and practices for introspection. Practitioners will discuss Svadhyaya, or self-study, and practice a Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR). Please wear comfortable clothes that allow for gentle movement and flow. Yoga mats and blocks are provided. This workshop-style class will introduce the topic, involve pranayama practice, and end with a PMR.

The Roll Model Method: Pre-Holiday Tension Tamer | Monday, November 18, 1 - 2 PM | Location: Carney 206
Using Roll Model® therapy balls, stretching and breathing techniques, this session will help you navigate the winter season with ease. Give yourself a deep tissue massage from the soles of your feet to the crown of your head, from the surface of your skin to your deep fascia. Learn effective ways to unwind shoulder, neck and back tension, find more energy and create inner calm.

Introduction to Yoga
Are you new to yoga and unsure where to start? Nervous about practicing in front of others without having a baseline of knowledge? Want to gain the confidence to practice in a group class or create a personal practice? We can help! We offer a private Introduction to Yoga session for individuals or groups. Classes are about 30- to 45-minutes long, introduce Surya Namaskar A + B (Sun Salutation A +B), and invite time for questions. Please wear comfortable clothes that allow for gentle movement and flow. Chair Yoga

Are you interested in bringing Chair Yoga to your office? This chair-based yoga class will combine breathwork and gentle movement to release physical tension in the body and relax the mind. All levels welcome. No experience necessary. Approval from the supervisor is required and you reserve the space in your location. Minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 participants. Please wear comfortable clothes that allow for gentle movement and flow.  INQUIRE HERE


Yoga Teacher Training

Now is the perfect time for you to get out of your own way. Create the time to deepen your practice. Commit to your growth and learning. Boston College is offering a significantly discounted rate for students, faculty, and staff to take part in the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training led by Ling Beisecker and Eva Christopherson. This comprehensive course will delve into yoga history, philosophy, anatomy, business ethics, and much more. Expect an alignment-based training emphasizing self-study and curiosity.
