Profile

Doreen Richards is a Learning Design Consultant in the Center for Digital Innovation in Learning (CDIL) at Boston College and a part-time instructor in Natural Science courses. In the classroom, she invites students to explore how the human body responds to activity, training, and stress, using everyday examples from work, sport, and wellness to make complex concepts accessible. Her courses weave together anatomy, physiology, and nutrition with practical applications in fitness and health promotion, encouraging students to ask questions, interpret data, and connect scientific ideas to their own goals and professional paths.

Doreen’s teaching and design work are shaped by her experience as an academic leader and educator. She has served as Dean of Arts and Health Sciences and currently contributes as a peer evaluator for the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), which informs her attention to quality, clarity, and student experience in every course she helps build. With over 15 years of teaching in online, hybrid, and face-to-face settings, she understands the real constraints students juggle and strives to create learning environments that are rigorous, supportive, and flexible.
