The University awards degrees in May, August, and December and holds a Commencement Ceremony in May each year. Students who have completed all requirements for their degree before a specific date are eligible to receive their degree at the University’s next official graduation date. A diploma will not be dated before all work is completed.
Students must submit this form to be considered for graduation clearance. This form does not guarantee your graduation as you still need to complete all degree requirements prior to the graduation date.
If you have questions about your eligibility for graduation, please contact your academic advisor.
Request to Graduate Forms:
This will ensure that a graduate's diploma is printed correctly and that the graduate's name is listed in the University's Commencement program. Please note that only a graduate's name, degree, and Latin honors (if applicable) are printed on the diploma. Students who already received their diploma during the prior semester may skip this step.
The deadlines for students to verify their diploma names are:
Students provide their names as they wish for them to appear on their diploma using the Diploma Name Information section in the Agora Portal.
Login to the Agora Portal and go to: My Services, Account and Personal Info, Diploma Name Information - View/Edit, and follow the instructions.
If you have any questions about updating your diploma name, please contact Student Services at 617-552-3300.
After completing all course requirements, many changes will occur to a graduate's email account and other computing services. To continue receiving emails sent to a bc.edu email address, it is necessary to set up forwarding to another email address.
This is an important step and is required for students graduating in August and December if they wish to participate in the Commencement ceremony in May. Students who fail to set up email forwarding may miss important information regarding participation in Commencement.
Review the step by step instructions on the Information Technology Services website for detailed information about what happens to email and other computing services by the term of graduation.
Any graduating Woods College student who has received any federal student loans and/or disbursements from Boston College must complete an exit interview with the Financial Services Office, prior to leaving the University. Failure to complete an exit interview or to resolve any outstanding financial obligation to the University will result in a hold being placed on your diploma and transcript.
For answers to questions regarding student loans repayment, call the Office of Student Services at 617-552-3300 or 800-294-0294 and ask to speak with a member of the Loan Repayment staff.
By completing this form you will confirm your attendance to Commencement Exercises, Main and Diploma Ceremonies. The questionnaire will be emailed in March to students who have successfully submitted the "Request to Graduate Form" (Step #1), and have been cleared by their academic advisor to participate in May Commencement Ceremonies.
Information on how to order your cap and gown, pick-up location, and related dates will be posted in April.
