Our fully online, four-course Graduate Certificate in Writing & the Human Condition is ideal for those not ready to commit to a full degree program. Intensive writing workshops complement courses that focus on the craft of storytelling, how the psychological humanities have evolved, and the timeless discoveries of distinguished psychologists throughout the ages.

Curriculum

Through core courses and intensive workshops, aspiring writers will learn how to skillfully compose narratives and situate their writing in the tradition of the psychological humanities while developing a portfolio of writing work. Students will complete one writing workshop, one course in the psychological humanities, and two courses from our M.A. in Writing & the Human Condition Program.

Please note that non-US citizens are not able to receive a valid student visa for enrollment in a certificate program.  If you need a student visa to study in the US, please select an eligible masters degree.

Academic transcripts

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university (minimum GPA 3.0)

Applicants whose undergraduate GPA falls below 3.0 will be considered for admission. Applications will be considered in light of other factors, including letters of reference and personal statement.

Writing Samples

Writing samples are required. Please submit a maximum of 25 pages.

Our low-residency, interdisciplinary program combines psychology, philosophy, and literature to help you write with depth and purpose. It features a part-time, hybrid format designed for demanding schedules and a cohort model that encourages meaningful engagement.
