Bill Carter is an instructor at the Woods College of Advancing Studies, where he teaches Athlete Entrepreneurship: Opportunities Created by Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). His course examines the legal, commercial, and strategic dimensions of the post-2021 college sports landscape.
Carter brings 25 years of sports industry experience to the classroom. As founder of Fuse, a pioneering sports & athlete marketing agency, he built brand and athlete partnerships for some of the most recognized companies in sports. Since 2020, he has focused exclusively on Name, Image, and Likeness — educating student-athletes, consulting for brands and universities navigating the new NIL economy, and founding the NIL Forum, a leading industry gathering for NIL professionals. He is also the founder of Student-Athlete Insights, a research and education firm focused on the student-athlete market.
An educator for 25 years, Carter has taught at New York University, St. John's University, and the University of Vermont before joining Boston College. His teaching draws directly on his industry work, giving students a practitioner's view of one of the fastest-moving sectors in sports business.
