Michael S. Czahor holds a dual Ph.D. in Statistics and Wind Engineering from Iowa State University, where he was an NSF Fellow and published research on statistical reliability modeling. His teaching has been recognized with the Teaching Excellence Award in Statistics at Iowa State and Educator of the Year honors from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Dr. Czahor spent seven years in Major League Baseball research and development, serving as Lead Quantitative Analyst with the Philadelphia Phillies, Principal Quantitative Analyst with the Detroit Tigers, and Special Assistant of Research and Development with the Miami Marlins, building production Bayesian models and biomechanical analyses that informed front-office decision-making. His sports analytics career began as a statistician intern with the Philadelphia 76ers.
He is currently Principal Data Scientist and AI at Broadata Communications, where his research centers on lab applications for elite performance facilities: high-speed camera systems with markerless motion capture, and interactive front-end tools built for the physical therapists, athletic trainers, and performance staff who use them daily. He is also the founder of AthlyticZ, a data science education platform built in partnership with Posit, and serves on multiple graduate advisory boards, including Boston College's M.S. in Sports Analytics program.
