Where are you from, and what was your journey to the Woods College like?
I am from Boston, Massachusetts. My journey to the Woods College was unusual and untraditional. I discovered Woods College while in prison, through the Boston College Prison Education Program.
Why did you choose to attend the Woods College?
I chose the Woods College because it granted me an opportunity to earn a quality education in an environment that had none. It was designed to accommodate adult learners, which fit me perfectly.
Which particular person, class, or event has had the most impact on you during your time at Woods so far?
The class that has had the most impact on me during my time at the Woods College was my philosophy class taught by Professor Cherie McGill. The way she challenged me to think outside the box in particular was something I was not used to. She taught me how to apply different philosophical practices in my life for the better and gave me the confidence to ask questions. She taught me how to use my voice.

How do you create and/or experience a sense of community at Woods?
I experienced a sense of community by getting involved in student clubs on campus and creating a student organization on campus called Eagles Bridging the Gap.
In what ways do you see the BC mission and Jesuit educational values come to life?
I have seen it come to life through the Boston College Prison Education Program—allowing and accepting students from that program on campus and treating them like every other student.
What are your aspirations after graduation?
I aspire to be a leader and advocate for prison education programs.
