Profile

Christopher Michael Brown was raised in Colorado Springs, CO. He graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor’s degree in History before earning a master’s degree in Sport and Wellness Leadership from Austin Peay State University.

Brown began his career in compliance at the Ohio Valley Conference and Southeast Missouri State University (2012–14). From 2014 to 2018, he served in the NCAA national office as part of the Academic and Membership Affairs department, working across both the Division II and Division III teams. In that role, he processed legislative relief waivers and interpretive requests, issued legislative publications, and delivered compliance-oriented educational initiatives to the membership.

He has also worked as a contractor for the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, and numerous collegiate institutions. From 2018 to 2020, Brown served as Commissioner of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. He later joined the Mountain West Conference as Associate Commissioner for Governance and Compliance.

Brown currently serves as Associate Athletics Director for Compliance, Student-Athlete Success, and Operations at Colorado College, where he oversees Division I and Division III compliance, academic success initiatives, and sport administration. He is also the founder of Brown Athletics Consulting, where he leads the Virtual Compliance Office product, providing compliance support and education to institutions across the country.
