Hana Vogeley is a senior studying International Studies with a concentration in Cooperation & Conflict. She is from Tokyo, Japan, but grew up moving between the United States and Japan. Her exposure to both cultures has led to her particular interest in the U.S.-Japan alliance and the diplomatic and security relations in East Asia that ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific. In the summer of 2024, she interned at the United States Forces, Japan (USFJ), where she enhanced her understanding of Japan’s unique relations with the United States and the severe security Japan faces in East Asia. Following her summer internship, she studied abroad in Milan, Italy for a semester. In the summer of 2025, she worked as an Undergraduate Research Fellow while also continuing her work at USFJ to develop an “Alliance Understanding Program” in coordination with Japanese officials from the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At Boston College, Hana is part of the Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society, serves as President of the Japan Club of Boston College, and is part of the Campus School Volunteers of Boston College. Outside of BC, Hana enjoys the outdoors, exploring new countries and cultures, and taking lots of pictures. She looks forward to meeting and helping both current and prospective IS students!
