Kyle A. Carr, Ph.D., is a Learning Experience Designer in the Center for Digital Innovation in Learning (CDIL) at Boston College, where he collaborates with faculty to create engaging, inclusive, and research-informed learning experiences. He leads course and program redesigns, facilitates workshops on inclusive pedagogy and emerging technologies, and develops digital learning assets using tools such as Canvas, Articulate, and generative AI. He also chairs CDIL’s Inclusive Excellence and Accessibility Working Group, fostering a community of practice focused on equity and socially just online learning.
As a sociologist and educator, Kyle brings his teaching experience directly into his design work. He teaches Introductory Sociology, Sociology of Health and Illness, Deviance and Social Control, and AI & Society. His courses emphasize inclusive pedagogy, critical inquiry, and student belonging, principles that guide his approach to both classroom teaching and faculty collaboration.
Kyle holds a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology from the College of the Holy Cross and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from Boston College. His research examines how social disconnection throughout the life course influences mental health, and his work has been published in Social Science & Medicine, The Journals of Gerontology, and SSM - Population Health.
