We are deeply saddened to hear that Dr. Sunanda Basu recently passed away. Dr. Basu had a long, distinguished career as a world leader in ionospheric science, as well as being a Visiting Researcher at BC’s ISR. Her many recognitions by the community included appointment as an AGU Fellow, the AGU Ambassador Award, and the SCOSTEP Distinguished Service Award. In addition to her scientific work, she supported numerous young scientists through the URSI Santimay Basu Prize and the AGU Basu International Early Career Award in Sun-Earth Systems Science, as well as contributing to the National Academies’ Ramanathan Climate Conversations series. Her insights, generosity, and leadership will be missed by us all.
