Meet the Bystander Trainers

Bystander Education Trainers teach their peers about the importance of speaking out and standing up to prevent sexual violence from occuring. They are part of a social movement that seeks to create a change in campus culture, and form a community of people who refuse to stand by in the face of violence. Lead Trainers

Julia Natale

Julia Natale

Julia Natale, MCAS ‘22, is from Danvers, MA. She is studying Biology and Global Public Health. She hopes to one day become a physician associate, working in maternal health and health equity. She is extremely excited for her third and final year on the Bystander team, and cannot wait to continue building community conversations around sexual violence prevention. She is also an undergraduate staff member at the Women’s Center, and a volunteer at Boston Healthcare for the Homeless. In her free time, Julia loves playing with her two corgis, cooking, and helping Macie become TikTok famous

Abbey Iafolla

Abbey Iafolla

Abbey Iafolla, MCAS ’22, is from Kennebunkport, ME. She is double majoring in Hispanic Studies and Communication on the pre-law track. She is interested in pursuing a career in immigration law, working specifically with refugees and asylum-seekers. She is excited to be joining the Bystander team for her first year, and she hopes to continue to facilitate conversations around community building and sexual assault prevention on campus. Outside of Bystander, Abbey is an undergraduate staff member at the Women’s Center and is involved with the Emerging Leader Program and the University Chorale. In her free time, she loves eating delicious food, running, showing people pictures of her dogs, and hanging out with friends and family.

Macie Gettings

Macie Gettings

Macie Gettings, MCAS '22, is originally from Los Angeles. She is majoring in Biology and minoring in Applied Psychology and Human Development. She is currently applying to medical school. She is a a staff member at the Women's Center, campus tour guide, opinions editor for BC’s progressive student newspaper The Gavel, and a third year Bystander Intervention Trainer. In her free time, she enjoys playing guitar, bartending, and dreaming of becoming TikTok famous. She is absolutely thrilled to start a third year with Bystander, educating and working to protect the students of BC and the greater Boston area.

Lai Lai Liu

Lai Lai Liu

Lai Lai Liu, MCAS '22, is from Beijing, China, and is majoring in International Studies and Communication. This year, Lai Lai is also working at the NC Women's Center, BC Center for Human Rights and International Justice, volunteering in the city, and singing on campus with one of BC's acapella groups, The Common Tones. In her free time she likes to read, cook, or hop on the T and see where it takes her!
