Eleanor (Ellie) Carey is a junior from New Orleans, Louisiana, majoring in Russian andInternational Studies. She is concentrating in Conflict and Cooperation, and is interested in thegeopolitics of post-Soviet states (specifically, in Central Asia and the Caucuses), conflictresolution and diplomacy, and environmental/climate politics. She studied abroad before hersophomore year in Almaty, Kazakhstan, as a part of the Advanced Russian Language and AreaStudies Program. She will study abroad in Glasgow, Scotland, in the Fall of 2024. At BC,Eleanor was involved in the Arrupe Immersion Program, and she completed her trip to Quito,Ecuador, last winter. She is also involved in the Ascend Program, serving as a Sophomore Internlast year, and is an enthusiastic participant in BC’s Appalachian Volunteers (APPA) program.Eleanor was privileged to work for the United States Department of State this past summer,serving under the Department of European and Eurasian Affairs’s Caucuses Desk. In the future,she is interested in pursuing an education and career focused on intelligence analysis and Slaviclanguage acquisition. Eleanor is a big fan of cats, iced chai lattes, and Lego sets.Eleanor is studying abroad in the Fall of 2024 and is not hosting office hours this semester.

Eleanor will be studying abroad during Fall 2024 and will only be available for peer advising in Spring 2025.
