Making the most of a psychology major

Advice on locating a fellowship to fund your study in the U.S. or abroad.

Students should consider applying for a Fulbright grant, which supports a year of independent study (or English-language teaching) in the year after graduation. The application deadline is October 1 of your senior year.


Research Courses

Work independently under a faculty member's supervision.

Honors Program

Not the College of Arts and Sciences Honors Program, but a challenging course of study for Psychology majors.

Senior Thesis

Students may choose to write a thesis during the senior year.

  • Neuroscience Courses for Premedical Students
    Psychology courses that may be reported as part of your Neuroscience and Statistics GPA.
  • Concentration in Clinical Psychology
    The Clinical Concentration is designed for Psychology majors with a particular interest in careers in clinical or counseling psychology or clinical social work. This concentration is open only to Psychology B.A. majors.
  • Interdisciplinary Study
    An overview of interdisciplinary courses available to Psychology students.
  • Social Work Program
    The School of Social Work and the Psychology Department offer a joint five-year Master's Degree program for students who have decided upon a career in social work. This program is open only to Psychology B.A. majors.

The Scholar of the College award is a designation awarded at Commencement to exceptional students who have excelled academically in their undergraduate studies and who have done substantial, independent work of the highest quality for a significant part of their senior year under the supervision of faculty scholars.
