Making the most of a psychology major

Students should consider applying for a Fulbright grant, which supports a year of independent study (or English-language teaching) in the year after graduation. The application deadline is October 1 of your senior year.

- Concentration in Clinical Psychology
The Clinical Concentration is designed for Psychology majors with a particular interest in careers in clinical or couseling psychology or clinical social work. This concentration is open only to Psychology B.A. majors.

- Social Work Program
The School of Social Work and the Psychology Department offer a joint five-year Master's Degree program for students who have decided upon a career in social work. This program is open only to Psychology B.A. majors.
The Scholar of the College award is a designation awarded at Commencement to exceptional students who have excelled academically in their undergraduate studies and who have done substantial, independent work of the highest quality for a significant part of their senior year under the supervision of faculty scholars.
Psi Chi is a national honor society whose purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of individuals studying psychology. At Boston College, we in Psi Chi achieve these goals for our members by designing trips to various institutions practicing psychology, as well as arrange for guest speakers to meet with our members and discuss topics of general interest. Additionally, members of Psi Chi contribute to the Psychology Department as a whole by implementing programs to encourage participation in research among undergraduates.
Nu Rho Psi
Nu Rho Psi is the national honor society in neuroscience, which fosters excellence in neuroscience scholarship and research. Boston College's chapter of Nu Rho Psi works to support undergraduate and graduate students pursuing careers in neuroscience while increasing public scientific awareness by providing a support network, grant and award opportunities, community outreach, and professional development events. Nu Rho Psi also helps undergraduates to find research opportunities both on and off campus.
