Accessibility

The Center for Teaching Excellence is committed to providing equal access to its events, programs, and services. See below for details and don’t hesitate to contact centerforteaching@bc.edu with any questions.

What You Can Expect

As part of our commitment to enable greater access to our programs, CTE staff strive to:

  • Make accessible materials available 24 hours prior to programs
  • Provide multiple modes for communication during events (e.g. verbal and written)
  • Provide automatic captioning during slide presentations
  • Make KN95 masks available
  • Provide alternatives to in-person attendance as appropriate (such as allowing for remote attendance or sharing session recordings or notes)

At larger-scale events, we also strive to:

  • Provide recordings of plenary and breakout presentations (pending speaker approval)
  • Use microphones in all event spaces
  • Provide guidance on accessible routes between event locales

Community members and visitors can reserve a lactation space through the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources.

Requesting Accommodations

We design our programs and services with the intent of lowering barriers to access, but we can’t anticipate every individual’s needs. If you require an accommodation to participate in the CTE’s offerings, you have a few options:

While there is no firm deadline for accommodation requests, earlier notice gives us more time to prepare.

Accessing the CTE Suite

The Center for Teaching Excellence is located on the second floor landing off the breezeway staircase in O'Neill Library. Elevators to the 2nd floor can be accessed from the 1st and 3rd floor entrances. Boston College provides an interactive map of campus that highlights accessible routes to our building.
