Biography
Jay’s research dabbles in legal history, the study of sartorial tradition, fashion history and gender studies. Her work is grounded in an interdisciplinary approach that understands dress not merely as material culture, but as a critical site of cultural expression, resistance, and political signification. In particular, she seeks to examine how dress and gender functions as a medium through which individuals and communities articulate identity, negotiate power, and contest legal and social constraints.
