Memberships, Lockers, & Towels

Memberships

All memberships may be cancelled within three business days of your join date and receive a full refund, per Massachusetts General Law.

If you leave the University or have a written medical note you will be eligible for a prorated refund starting the date of cancellation.

All other memberships will remain in effect until the end of the term signed up for.

If paying through payroll deductions, your membership agreement goes through May 31 of each year and will renew automatically. Members will be contacted via email about any price adjustments two months prior to any adjustments. Any and all adjustments will be applied in June of each year. There will be an opt out period (April/May) each year for the upcoming year if you choose to discontinue your Payroll Deduction membership. Memberships may not be cancelled prior to the opt out period without a written medical note or by leaving the University.

Lockers

Lockers are nonrefundable.

Towel Service

If you cancel your membership in accordance with the above guidelines, you will be eligible for a prorated refund on your towel service starting the date of cancellation.

Private Swim & Tennis Lessons

Cancellation Policy

  1. All private lesson cancellations should be made by calling Member Services at 617-552-0797 at least 24 hours in advance.
  2. Failure to contact Member Services will result in the loss of the session.

Late Policy

  1. Participants in a private lesson should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the lesson.
  2. All one-hour lessons will end an hour after the scheduled start time.
  3. All thirty-minute lessons will end thirty minutes after the scheduled start time.
  4. If a participant is 15 minutes late the lesson will be cancelled and the participant will forfeit the lesson.

Semi-Private Swim & Tennis Lessons

Cancellation Policy

If one member of a semi-private lesson cannot attend the lesson, then that lesson must be rescheduled by all parties or one party will forfeit the lesson. Instructions for cancelling lessons are outlined in the private lesson sections above.

Programs

Cancellation Policy

  1. Minimum enrollment levels must be met for classes to be held. If Campus Recreation cancels a class due to low enrollment, registered participants will be notified and offered the option of transferring to another class or receiving a refund.
  2. A participant wishing to be removed from a class may contact Member Services within three business days after enrollment for a full refund per Massachusetts General Law. After that time, you will receive a full refund only if there is a cancellation of the class or program.
  3. All other cancellations will be charged a 20% cancellation fee as your slot was held in the class.
  4. BC Rec reserves the right to cancel programs due to building and/or University reduced operations and/or closures. Every attempt will be made to reschedule classes, but in the event that it is not possible, BC Rec will not grant refunds.
  5. No refunds will be given if a participant cancels five days or less before the start of class.

Personal Training

Cancellation Policy

Participants wishing to cancel a personal training session must contact their trainer 24 hours before the scheduled session. Failure to contact your trainer will result in forfeiture of the session.

Late Policy

  1. Participants in a personal training session should arrive fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled start time of a session.
  2. All one-hour sessions will end one hour after the scheduled start time.
  3. All thirty-minute sessions will end thirty minutes after the schedule start time.
  4.  If a participant is 15 minutes late the session will be cancelled and the participant will forfeit the session.

Group Fitness

Cancellation Policy

Campus Recreation group fitness instructors reserve the right to cancel a group fitness class if two or less participants are in attendance.

Outdoor Adventures

Cancellation Policy 

  1. Minimum enrollment levels must be met for classes to be held. If Campus Recreation cancels a class due to low enrollment, registered participants will be notified and offered the option of transferring to another class or receiving a full refund.
  2. You may receive a full refund if you are medically unfit to participate.  A doctor’s note stating you are unfit to participate in the activity must be presented to Member Services.
  3. There will be no refunds assessed to any Outdoor Adventures trip with a participation fee of $15.00 or less unless you are medically unfit to participate.
  4. A one day Outdoor Adventures trip with a participation fee that is more than $15.00 must be canceled four days before the scheduled trip to receive a refund; however there will be a $15.00 cancellation fee assessed.
  5. Overnight trips: All Outdoor Adventure overnight trips must be canceled three weeks prior to the trip date.  Failure to cancel an overnight trip three weeks prior to the trip date will lead to a forfeiture of the participation fee.  An overnight trip that is canceled prior to the three week start date will receive a refund but will be charged a 20% cancellation fee.
  6. Trips requiring flights: There will be a non-refundable deposit required for any trip requiring flights.  All trips requiring a flight must be canceled one month prior to the trip date to receive a refund minus the non-refundable deposit. 

American Red Cross Certification Courses

Cancellation Policy

  1. Minimum enrollment levels must be met for classes to be held. If Campus Recreation cancels a class due to low enrollment, registered participants will be notified and offered the option of transferring to another class or receiving a full refund.
  2. A participant wishing to be removed from class must do so fourteen days (two weeks) before the start of class to receive a refund. A participant will be charged a 20% cancellation fee.
  3. A participant may ask to be switched into another class fourteen days (two weeks) before the start of class with no penalty.  If a participant wishes to be switched to another class thirteen days or less before the start of class they will be charged a $100 transfer fee.      
  4. No refunds will be given if a participant cancels thirteen days or less before the start of class or after the start of class.
  5. You may receive a full refund minus a $20 cancellation fee if you are medically unfit to participate. A doctor’s note stating that you are unfit to participate in the activity must be presented to Member Services.
  6. Please be aware that there is a Prerequisite Swim Assessment for all Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instructor classes.  This swim assessment must be passed to continue with the class.  If you fail to pass the swim assessment you will be not be able to continue with the class.There will be no refund for anyone who fails the Prerequisite Swim Assessment.
