Andre Brouillette, S.J.

André Brouillette, S.J., took part in a panel discussion on the history of Jesuits in Canada at Regis College (University of Toronto). While in Canada, he gave a guest lecture on the post-Vatican II cultural and religious context of Quebec in a course addressing theology and culture. He also presented on "Thérèse du Nouveau Monde? Marie mystique à l'aulne de Thérèse d'Avila" at the International Conference on Marie de l'Incarnation (1599–1672), organized by the Université Laval in Quebec City.   

Richard Clifford, S.J.

Richard Clifford, S.J., and Thomas Stegman, S.J. (along with four others) co-edited The Paulist Biblical Commentary. The 1.5 million-word work includes commentaries on the 73 books of the Bible along with 12 general articles. Five STM faculty—Andrew Davis, Michael Simone, S.J., Angela Kim Harkins, Clifford, and Stegman—contributed to the volume. Clifford and Stegman also co-authored the article "The Christian Bible."

Tom Stegman, S.J.
Brian Dunkle, S.J.

Brian Dunkle, S.J., was awarded the North American Patristics Society's Best First Book Prize for Enchantment and Creed in the Hymns of Ambrose of Milan. At the meeting, Dunkle presented his paper, "To Earn the Holy Spirit: An Ambrosian Verse in Augustine’s Nature and Grace." A version of the paper will be published in a forthcoming issue of Augustinian Studies.

Angela Kim Harkins

Angela Kim Harkins published an article in Dead Sea Discoveries, "Another Look at the Cave 1 Hodayot." De Gruyter Press recently released her monograph, Reading with an "I" to the Heavens, in paperback. Harkins has an essay on the Book of Daniel in the Paulist Biblical Commentary and a short essay on the Hodayot in the new T&T Clark Handbook on the Dead Sea Scrolls. This fall, she begins a three-year term on the board of Collegium: A Colloquy on Faith and the Intellectual Life and also a term co-chairing the Qumran section of the International Society of Biblical Literature.

Mary Jo Iozzio

Mary Jo Iozzio's recent publications include "Counting the Uncounted: A Theo-Ethical Imperative" in The Local Church and the Place of the Catholic Ethicist; "Building Coalitions with NGOs: Religion Scholars and Disability Justice Activism" in Religions; and "Radical Dependence and the Imago Dei: Bioethical Implications of Access to Healthcare for People with Disabilities" in Christian Bioethics. She lectured on "Theological Overtures toward Disability Justice" at the Faculty Working Group on Disability Research Across Disciplines (Fordham University). She presented her work in two conferences' poster sessions: "Radical Dependence: Trinitarian Diversity, Theological Anthropology, and Theological Ethics" at the Third International Conference of Catholic Theological Ethics in the World Church (Sarajevo, BiH), and "Ethical Practice and Moral Formation: Beyond Reward and Punishment" at the Woods College of Advancing Studies 18th Applied Research Conference (Boston College). Iozzio continues to write for and edit the North American Forum for The FIRST newsletter of Catholic Theological Ethics in the World Church (www.catholicethics.com).

David Jorgensen

David Jorgensen spoke about his work with New Testament Abstracts at Pappas Patristic Institute's Summer Patristics Studies Program at Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Mass.

Richard Lennan

Richard Lennan presented "Beyond Its Use-By Date?: Pondering the Future of Faith," the 18th Evelyn Underhill Lecture in Christian Spirituality at Boston College. In July, he co-presented a series of workshops in Australia with Massimo Faggioli of Villanova University, focused on the theme "Leading Ecclesial Communities." In Australia,  he also gave a workshop in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle, “The Future of Faith: Challenge and Possibilities," and presented on the topic "Change and the Church's Tradition" within an e-conference, sponsored by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference.

Rafael Luciani

Rafael Luciani published "La centralidad del pueblo en la teología sociocultural del Papa Francisco" in Concilium, "El mesianismo asuntivo del Hijo del Hombre. Reflexión a la luz de la cristología contemporánea" in Theologica Xaveriana, "Medellín 50 Years Later: From Development to Liberation" in Theological Studies, and "Medellín como acontecimiento sinodal. Una eclesialidad colegiada fecundada y completada" in Revista Horizontes.

Catherine Mooney

Catherine Mooney gave two public lectures in Madrid on Saint Philippine Duchesne. She toured Argentina and Uruguay for 12 days in September giving a series of themed lectures on Duchesne. As part of her work on the committee investigating the slaveholding past of the Society of the Sacred Heart, Mooney attended a gathering of newly located descendants of those formerly enslaved by the order in Grand Coteau, Louisiana.

Hoffsman Ospino

Hosffman Ospino was the 2018 recipient of the Virgilio Elizondo Award from the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States. His other recent awards include the Catholic Press Association’s First Place Award for Best Regular Column: General Commentary for his bilingual column with Catholic News Service, "Journeying Together/Caminando Juntos." Two of his books received Excellence in Publication Awards from the Association of Catholic Publishers—El Credo: Un encuentro con la fe de la Iglesia (Ave María Press) won second place and Interculturalismo y catequesis: Guía del catequista para responder a la diversidad cultural (Twenty-Third Publications) won third place, both in the category Best Books in Spanish. Along with several book chapters and academic articles, Ospino published a new bilingual collection, Our Catholic Children: Ministry with Hispanic Youth and Young Adults / Nuestros jóvenes católicos: pastoral juvenil hispana en los Estados Unidos (Our Sunday Visitor). He was a plenary panelist at the Fifth National Encuentro of Hispanic/Latino Ministry held in Grapevine, Texas.

Felix Palazzi Van Buren

Felix Palazzi Van Buren co-edited with Margaret Guider and Ernesto Valiente The Grace of Medellín: History, Theology, and Legacy. With Hosffman Ospino, he edited a compilation of homilies of Archbishop Oscar Romero, Restoring Hope: Archbishop Oscar Romero’s Vision for a Just World (In His Own Words). He promotes reading groups on the Gospel for Hispanic communities in the Boston area. He participated in the Fifth National Encuentro  in Grapevine, Texas.
 

Andrea Vicini, S.J.

Andrea Vicini, S.J., presented a poster on "Theological Bioethics in the Global World" at the Third International Conference of Catholic Theological Ethics in the World Church (CTEWC) in Sarajevo, Bosnia. He, along with Kristin Heyer, professor of theology at Boston College, and Shaji George Kochuthara, CMI, associate professor of moral theology, Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram, Bangalore, India, co-chaired the conference.
