Biography

Colleen Taylor specializes in eighteenth-century Irish and British literature and the environmental humanities. Her teaching and research explore how Irish ecologies facilitated cultural expression and colonial resistance. She is the author of Irish Materialisms: The Nonhuman and the Making of Colonial Ireland, 1690-1830 (Oxford University Press, 2024), and her articles on Irish literature and material culture have appeared in Eighteenth-Century Fiction, Eire-Ireland, and Tulsa Studies in Women's Literature. Colleen previously held the National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship at the University of Notre Dame and an Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Award at University College Cork. Her current research project examines eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Irish culture through the blue humanities, theorizing the decolonial implications of Ireland's oceanic imagination.
