Sammy Chong is an interdisciplinary artist who practices mainly in drawing and painting. With a background in theology and philosophy, Chong's studio practice builds on the notion of individual identity and transcendental meaning in contemporary society. In the past, he has taught courses in the History of Christian Art, and Theology and Film, at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador. Chong has received a number of awards and recognition, most recently winning the Biennial 2017 Alexander Rutsch Award for Painting. He has exhibited in the US and in South America.
