Assistant Professor of the Practice

Profile

Bethany A. Croke, D.N.P., FNP-BC, is an assistant professor of the practice and the Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at the Connell School of Nursing. She earned a B.A. (2009) from Boston University and an M.S. (2011) and D.N.P. (2023) from Boston College. She has practiced primary care for vulnerable populations in the community health setting for her entire nursing career, and her clinical experience encompasses acute and chronic illness across the lifespan, including prenatal care. She currently provides primary care within the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Primary Care departments, including at the Brookside and Southern Jamaica Plain Community Health Centers in Boston.

Prior to coming to Boston College, Bethany served as the founding clinical program manager for NeighborHealth’s Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship Program in Boston. In this role she fully designed the program’s didactic curriculum, created and oversaw the program’s evaluation process, led a successful program self-study that resulted in program accreditation, and mentored FNPs during their transition from graduate school to community health primary care practice.

In her academic role, Bethany is dedicated at both the state and national levels to supporting the transition to practice for novice nurse practitioners.  Her work in postgraduate APP training focuses on building strategic academic partnerships, investigating postgraduate training outcomes, and advancing APP primary care workforce development.
