Profile

Kerry McKeon completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies with a Certificate in Linguistics at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She formerly worked as a legislative aide in the United States Senate and as a teacher, both in the U.S. and abroad. Her research focuses on the intersections of language, cognition, and social action in political discourse and policy communications. More specifically, she analyzes how the rhetorical strategies used by policymakers and politicians shape public perception and policy decision-making. She has authored several articles that use discourse analysis to explore educational policy, including topics such as the influence of neoliberalism in education, the responses of school leaders to the realities of immigration, and racialized narratives in political debates. Her research highlights the power of discourse in framing policy debates and influencing policy outcomes.
