Faculty Appointment in Practical Theology (Open Rank)

Position Description and Qualifications
Boston College’s School of Theology and Ministry (STM) seeks to appoint a tenure-track professor in Practical Theology; rank is open. This appointment will be within the STM’s Department of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry (DREPM), to begin Fall 2020. Candidates should have a PhD in Practical Theology or a closely related field and expertise in one or more of the following areas: Critical Race Theory, Racism and Racial Justice, Public Theology, Theology and Culture, Gender Theory, Asian/Asian-American Theology, Black/Womanist Theology, Latinx Theology.  

Candidates should be prepared to utilize the methodology of practical theology, and teach introductory courses as well as specialized courses according to their areas of specialization and the need of the School. They should also possess a commitment to theological education for lay and ordained ministry; familiarity with Roman Catholic polity and pastoral life is important. Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Practical Theology or a closely related field.
