Salem Professor in Global Practice Theresa Betancourt—along with Dean Gautam N. Yadama and Associate Professor Scott Easton—traveled to Beirut, Lebanon, for the annual meeting of the International Society for Social Pediatrics & Child Health, where Betancourt delivered a keynote address about her landmark study of former child soldiers in Sierra Leone, also featured in The New Humanitarian. A recent article on Quartz Africa highlighted the successes of Sugira Muryango, a home-visiting program in Rwanda that she developed in collaboration with colleagues at BCSSW’s Research Program on Children and Adversity, which she also directs, and the nonprofit FXB Rwanda. Betancourt also gave a keynote address at the 35th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and presented on mixed methods research at a November event for health researchers at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo.
