Amane is passionate about teaching ballet and making ballet accessible to everyone, no matter the student’s major. At Boston College, Amane teaches courses in ballet, pointe, and history of ballet. She choreographed two ballets for BC’s Theatre Department productions: a scene in The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe directed by Luke Jorgensen, and Celebration for Awakenings, the dance concert directed by Sun Ho Kim.

Amane is a registered ballet teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance (UK) and was awarded the title of Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance. She is also a ballet instructor for the Boston City Youth Ballet program at Tony Williams Dance Center and a Pilates Instructor, certified by Balanced Body.

As a professional dancer, she currently dances with the City Ballet of Boston prior to dancing with Eugene Ballet, Ballet Tucson, and A&A Ballet. Her repertoire includes Anthony Williams’ Urban Nutcracker (Snow Queen, Lead Hoop and Lead Rox Riff), Gianni Di Marco’s choreography, Sleeping Beauty (Violent Fairy and Jewels Pas de Toris), Toni Pimble’s Cinderella, Great Gatsby and Carmina Burana, Chieko Imada’s choreography after Marius Petipa; Paquita and La Bayadere, and George Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht Ballet. Her early ballet training began with Mitsuyo Kishibe in Tokyo. At 13, she moved to the U.K. and studied ballet with Desmond Kelly, OBE at Elmhurst School of Ballet in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet, followed by training at the Central School of Ballet, under the direction of Sara Matthews. Amane extended her training through summer intensives at the Royal Ballet School, the English National Ballet School, and the International Masterclass in Prague, Czech.

Amane holds MA in Education (Dance Teaching) from the University of Bath, UK, and BA with Honors in Professional Dance and Performance Studies from the University of Kent, UK.
