Anselm Flores is a monk of Mount Angel Abbey and is currently a student in the joint M.A. in Philosophy and Theology. After having written his first master's thesis on Maximus the Confessor and Sarah Coakley on the topic of Christology and the relationship between divine and human desire, his interests have shifted toward studying 12th and 13th century figures, especially the Victorine school. He is also curious about the elusive 9th century philosopher, John Scotus Eriugena. In general, the questions of how properly to relate the uncreated with the created; how that relationship is understood and manifested in creation and daily life; and how Christology can offer a kind of christo-logic to understand this relationship, are foremost in his mind.
In his spare time, Anselm likes to play tennis, go for runs, and play music on the pipe organ, violin, and lute. He also enjoys thrift shopping and reading poetry.
