Robert specializes in Medieval and Humanist Logic and its reception in the Early Modern period, especially Descartes. In his Dissertation, provisionally titled "The Transformation of Method: Before and After Descartes", he investigates the development of the concept of method from Late Renaissance Humanism and Herborn Encyclopedism to Descartes' early Regulae, and ultimately to G.W. Leibniz' Universal Characteristic. Robert has a background in computer science and has built several websites that facilitate is past and current research.
