Sarah is a doctoral student in theological ethics, originally from the South Shore of Massachusetts. She graduated Boston College in 2018 with a B.A. in theology. Upon graduation, she spent several years in the corporate sector, working in tech sales while simultaneously serving as the development manager for the Women's Foundation of Boston, a 401c3 nonprofit. After much discernment, Sarah left the corporate sphere to get her M.Div. at Boston College’s Clough School of Theology and Ministry where her theological interests came to the forefront.
Sarah’s research interests center broadly around sex and gender in the Catholic Church. She is specifically interested in the role language, labels, and imagination plays in shaping understandings sex, gender, and lay agency. Her work draws on liberation, queer, and political theologies with the aim of integrating ethnographic research and public scholarship into her doctoral studies.
In addition to her studies, Sarah is a hospital chaplain at Boston Medical Center-Brighton and an active prison minister. She enjoys long runs on the Charles River and is passionate about community organizing, public speaking, and writing.
