Brendan Mahoney is an MA student at Boston College, studying history. He hopes to pursue a PhD in twentieth century American history with a focus on mid-century radicalism, and the afterlives of activists following the peak in their organizing. His undergraduate thesis project, “Iraq as a Continuation of Vietnam: The Aging New Left and the War on Terror” focuses on the ways in which New Left radicals continued their activism beyond the Vietnam War and would remain active during protests of the US War on Terror. He is also interested in Irish America, and the ways in which Irish Americans saw themselves fitting into radical movements.
