Payroll Deduction Memberships
General Information
Eligibility: Full-time Faculty/Staff are traditionally eligible for a payroll deduction membership. This method deducts the membership cost directly from your weekly/monthly salary.
To check eligibility, contact Member Services at campusrec@bc.edu or call 617.552.0797. Eligibility is based on university status, which is not determined by Campus Recreation.
Nature of Deduction: Payroll Deduction memberships are automatically recurring and cannot be adjusted. Annual opt-out is available from April 16th to May 15th at 5pm each year. For cancellation or opt-out details, refer to the "Opt-Out / Adjustment / Cancellation " section below.
Add-On Services: Upon enrollment or during the opt-out period, members can choose to add locker and/or towel services to their membership, subject to availability.
Enrollment Process
Initial Payment: Due to the University's payroll system, enrollment might include an additional month of payment upfront via credit card. The enrollment cost details are in the table below.
Enrollment Timing and Payment:
Enrolling On/Before the 15th: Pay a prorated amount for the current month upfront via credit card. Deductions from the paycheck start the following month.
Example: Enroll on January 10th, pay for the remainder of January upfront, and deductions start in February.
Enrolling On/After the 16th: Pay for the remaining current month and the entire next month upfront. Deductions from the paycheck start in the second subsequent month.
Example: Enroll on January 18th, pay for the remainder of January and full month of February upfront, and deductions start in March.
Note: Boston College processes payroll for the following month after the 16th, hence the variation in upfront payment.
In-Person Requirement: Enrollment must be done in person as all members need to sign a waiver.
Opt-Out / Adjustment / Cancellation
Cancellation Policy: Visit our cancellation & refund policies page for details as per Massachusetts General Law.
Opt-Out Period: Members with Payroll Deduction memberships can opt out annually by filling out the Refund/Cancellation form between April 16th and May 15th at 5pm. Requests that are submitted outside the opt-out period are subject to our standard cancellation & refund policies and may not be eligible for Payroll Deduction cancellation.
Folks who do not fill out the cancellation/refund form identifying that they want a change made to their payroll deduction membership will be auto-enrolled for FY25, and their membership will run through 5/31/2025.
Adjustments: Any changes to your deductions, like adding services, can only be made during the opt-out period. A form will be sent out prior to the opt-out period to make these adjustments
Example: For additions like towel service outside the opt-out period, you can either pay upfront via credit card or wait until the next opt-out period to include it in your payroll deduction starting June 1st.
