Profile

Adam Payne is an assistant professor of psychology at Wentworth Institute of Technology. Payne earned a Doctor of Education in the Penn Chief Learning Officer program from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. His dissertation investigated the initial formation of bands of General Business (GB) Musicians. Additionally, he earned a Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Statistics from the University of Central Florida (Go Knights).

While working as an Internal OD Consultant for a large healthcare provider in North Carolina, Payne made the decision to switch careers after losing both of his parents to cancer. He began his career in higher education as an administrator/program director and has taught as a part-time/adjunct instructor at many institutions in the greater Boston area. He is also a musician, regularly performing solo and with his original band, and has recorded six albums while contributing to several other albums and projects. Payne currently serves as President/Chair of the UPenn Chief Learning Officer Alumni Network Board of Directors and serves as an end-of-life doula for Hospice.
