Timothy Troutner studies the mystical tradition and its contemporary reception, focusing on the genre of the spiritual itinerary and the philosophical problems associated with knowing and speaking about God. Additional concerns include the question of how the Christian doctrines of Incarnation and the Trinity relate to the Platonic and Idealist traditions.

He also teaches at Assumption University in Worcester, MA and lives in central Mass with his wife Sarah.
