Fernando Jimenez S.J. was born in Camiri, a small town in south eastern Bolivia. A Computer Science Engineer at first (UAGRM, Bolivia), Fernando got his S.T.B. from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC Chile), and then, his S.T.L. from Boston College (BC CSTM).
Before coming back to BC in the fall of 2025 for a Ph.D. in Theology (Biblical Studies focusing on the Hebrew Bible), he taught undergraduate courses at the Facultad de Teología San Pablo in Cochabamba Bolivia (2023-2025).
As a Jesuit, he considers he has been privileged when given the chance to serve different communities in Bolivia, Santiago de Chile, and Boston.
His research interests include prophetic rhetoric in the Hebrew Bible, the history of Biblical Israel, and the etymology of Hebrew nouns and Semitic cognates.
