Celebrate the Arts
Join the Boston College Arts Council in celebrating the arts on campus. The entire Boston College community is welcome and encouraged to get involved.
The arts have a unique ability to teach and to encourage communication. They challenge our thinking, touch our hearts, and connect us through collaborative action. Whether it is reflecting upon the impact of the arts, or participating in the act of creation, artistic activities exercise the critical and aesthetic thought processes that we value so highly. Participation in art and performance promotes a sense of community and empathy with the human condition. It connects us all. Artistic pursuits are essential to the formation of the whole person and fundamental to a university environment.
New collaborations for the 2019 Arts Festival
In a collaboration with the Provost and Dean of Faculties and the Vice Provost for Research, this year’s festival features events on the processes of creative innovation: through design thinking, 3D prototyping, and storytelling. Among these events is Stories by (Design + Thinking) @BC, a storytelling ‘fireside chat’ of innovative projects and ongoing initiatives at Boston College using design thinking.
Thursday, April 25: Design Swarms: BC students will take part in an extreme-lean approach used to create innovative solutions to social challenges. This process has been used to address such issues as homelessness, crises faced by refugees, and disaster relief. The final Design Swarms poster will be on view in the O’Neill Plaza Tent. Prior registration required for participation.
Thursday, April 25, 6–8 p.m.: Stories by (Design + Thinking) @BC: A storytelling ‘fireside chat’ in seven-minute stories based on innovative projects and ongoing initiatives at Boston College using design thinking. Featuring stories from BC’s Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences, Connell School of Nursing, School of Social Work, Lynch School of Education and Human Development, and more. Light refreshments served following the storytelling. Gasson Hall, Room 100.
