Connell School of Nursing Commencement

The Boston College Commencement Exercises are a two-part ceremony for both undergraduate and graduate students.

  • The University Commencement (main ceremony), will take place at 10:00 a.m. in Alumni Stadium on Monday, May 20th. For more information visit the main BC commencement website at https://www.bc.edu/commencement
  • The Connell School of Nursing Diploma Ceremony will take place at the O’Neil Plaza immediately after the University Commencement Ceremony, around 12:00 noon.
  • Our severe weather location is McElroy Commons and each graduate is given 4 tickets for admission. Students pick up these tickets when they pick up their cap and gown.


Mandatory Commencement Practice will take place on Thursday, May 16th at 11:00am in Cushing 001.

The Convocation Ceremony will take place at 3:00pm at Burns Library Lawn on Sunday, May 19th. This is an undergraduate nursing student ceremony only. Family and friends are invited to attend. There is unlimited seating. Dessert and refreshments will be available immediately following the ceremony at the Saint Mary’s Rose Garden.

The ceremony will conclude around 4:30pm. If your Commencement weekend includes a dinner plan, families are encouraged to make reservations after 5:15pm to allow for time for pictures.

Students will wear gowns only, no caps or cords for this ceremony. Heels are not recommended because the ceremony takes place on the grass.

Nursing pins are due to Amy Gribaudo by Friday, May 3rd in Maloney Hall, Room 217. Montserrat does help students eligible for funding with a pin for the Convocation Ceremony.


Graduate Nurses’ Association Commencement Gala and Awards Ceremony This special event will be held on Sunday, May 19th, at 5:00 p.m. in the Welch Dining Facility of Lyons Hall. It is a celebration dinner for all Connell School of Nursing M.S. and Ph.D. graduate and their guests. A variety of awards are presented to deserving graduate students at this event. More information will be forthcoming about this event (cost, etc.) from your GNA representatives. Hope to see you there!
