Birthworker Equity in Education (BEE) Collaborative

Birthworker Equity in Education (BEE) Collaborative

Project Details

The Birthworker Equity in Education (BEE) Collaborative, funded by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, was launched in an effort to support the state’s birth workforce—primarily midwives—to address persistent perinatal health inequities across the state. At the core of this project is the understanding that a more supported and less burnt out workforce is crucial to achieving high quality equitable maternal and newborn health care. The BEE Collaborative is focused on caring for the caregivers, rather than direct patient care.

Housed within the Connell School of Nursing at Boston College, the BEE Collaborative is supporting the birth workforce through education and training, mentoring, burnout prevention, networking, community-building, leadership coaching, mini-grants for innovative projects, and the development of a community health clinical excellence training site. The BEE Collaborative envisions an energized, skilled, and supported birth workforce that is equipped to revolutionize perinatal health care.
