Awards, appointments, and honors  

Vyacheslav (Slava) Fos, associate professor of finance, and Thomas Chemmanur, professor of finance, were named Hillenbrand Family Faculty Fellows.

Assistant Professor of Operations Management Nan Liu and his co-authors garnered several awards this year for their study “Managing Appointment-based Services in the Presence of Walk-in Customers.” The researchers’ paper won the 2017 Emerging Economies Doctoral Student Award from the Production and Operations Management Society; third place in the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences’ student paper competition; and honorable mention in the 2017 competition of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association for Management Science and Engineering.

Alicia Munnell, director of the Center for Retirement Research, was recognized by the National Academy of Social Insurance. Munnell, the Finance Department’s Peter F. Drucker Professor of Management Sciences, was one of eight founding board members of the academy to be honored at the organization’s 30th anniversary celebration in June.

“Mine and Yours: Ethics Discourse Framing and Situational Appropriateness,” by Professor Richard Nielsen and Assistant Professor Simona Giorgi of the Management and Organization Department, was a finalist for the 2017 Best Business Ethics Paper Award. The commendation was conferred by the Academy of Management’s division on Social Issues in Management.

Gergana Nenkov, associate professor of marketing, and Rui Albuquerque, associate professor of finance, were named Haub Family Faculty Fellows.

Assistant Professor of Marketing Nailya Ordabayeva was appointed to serve on the advisory panel of the Society of Consumer Psychology.

Sam Ransbotham, associate professor of information systems, and Lian Fen Lee, associate professor of accounting, were named William S. McKiernan '78 Family Faculty Fellows.
