The DNP educates advanced practice nurses at the highest level, preparing clinical experts who have the knowledge, skills, and experience to be effective leaders and provide patients with the best possible outcomes.

On April 20, 2018, the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) made the commitment to move all entry-level nurse practitioner education to the DNP degree by 2025. "It is simply a better way to make a nurse practitioner," says CSON Associate Dean Susan Kelly-Weeder, president-elect of NONPF.
