Conferences & Speaker Series

The Schiller Institute hosts and co-hosts a variety of conferences, workshops, and speaker series. Programs include the Distinguished Lecture Series and a newly launched series connecting BC faculty and students with active journalists.

Distinguished Lecture Series

The Distinguished Lecture Series brings together experts from diverse fields to share their insights with a wider interdisciplinary audience. These lectures aim to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue, encourage innovative thinking, and promote the dissemination of knowledge.

Schiller Catalyst Speaker Series

A new series, which will feature faculty members from around the country sharing their scholarship in large and small group settings with the BC community. The first speaker is on December 1, 2025.

Collaborative Series

The Schiller Institute prides itself on being dynamic and responsive to the needs and interests of the campus community. We co-sponsor numerous events and programs that address timely topics and provide people with an opportunity to connect.

Interdisciplinary Research Buildings Workshop

The Boston College Interdisciplinary Research Buildings Workshop, hosted by the Schiller Institute for Integrated Science and Society and the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, explored best practices for academic buildings devoted to interdisciplinary research.

Schiller Informal Lunch Seminar (SILS)

SILS is a casual lunch-time seminar for faculty interested in energy, health, and the environment. Each speaker presents specific, ongoing research that exemplifies approach—not only in terms of subject matter, but also the methodological tools they use to answer research questions.
