Collaborative Series
The Schiller Institute prides itself on being dynamic and responsive to the needs and interests of the campus community. We co-sponsor numerous events and programs that address timely topics and provide people with an opportunity to connect.
The conference examines how environmental philosophy, in dialogue with the natural sciences and other disciplines, can inform practical and ethical responses to today’s environmental crises. The event aims to help students and the broader university community navigate these complex moral, political, and scientific challenges and is paired with Prof. Melissa Lane’s Lowell Lecture, “Plato's Republic on Motivating Ecological Guardianship.”
The “Climate Is Every Story” initiative at Boston College is a year-long event series that brings leading journalists together with faculty and students to reimagine how the climate crisis is covered across disciplines. To showcase and extend these conversations, the “Climate Is Every Story” website will serve as a digital hub housing all related content, including articles, podcasts, videos, and more, produced by and for the Boston College community.
This new series is dedicated to honoring the legacy of Casper Augustus Ferguson, BC’s first African-American graduate (1937), by amplifying the voices and experiences of distinguished minoritized scholars. Our goal is to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders by providing meaningful role models and fostering an inclusive scientific community at Boston College.
