Biography

Guitarist Erik Kniffin is a veteran of the Boston music scene. A “guitarist for all seasons” he has performed or recorded in nearly every idiom and venue in the region. His experience ranges from the touring show band, specializing in Dinner to Dance music, to being a session guitarist on Country Gospel records or solo acoustic guitar soundtracks. In between are numerous Rock, Funk, Blues and Jazz outfits all of which performed extensively in the area. Currently, he has limited his performance schedule to an original project, a rock quartet, Letterik, which performs (and records) periodically in local venues.

Teaching the guitar and music is now his principal vocation. He essentially resurrected the guitar program here at B.C. while simultaneously conceiving the Popular Styles Ensemble and the Improvisation Courses. His current aspiration is to put “on-line” the Improvisation Course, hopefully by the Fall ’13 semester.
